1-day sportive tour: "Alte Fahrt" from / to Kanustation Mirow

Route

Kanustation Mirow - Mirower See - Granzower Möschen - Seerosenparadies Kleiner Kotzower See - Großer Kotzower See - Mössen - Leppinsee (snice resting places on the western bank, camping site on the eastern bank) - Junkerskanal (entrance Müritz-National Park, from here on motorboats are absolutely forbidden and even paddlers are not allowed to land) - Woterfitzsee (paddle only along the yellow buyos) - Caarpsee - Bolter Kanal - Müritz - past Marina Claassee - Kleine Müritz - (Attention: link to river Nebel) - Müritz-Havel-Kanal with lake Sumpfsee - Mirower sluice (lorry for small boats) - Mirower See - Kanustation.

Important advices

Only experienced paddlers should go this route and only in good weather.

Especially the legs on lake Müritz and Kleine Müritz are malicious in western winds! In the summer you can count on thunder storms and the occuring squalls became some persons fate.

Therefore we recommend to go the tour in the proposed direction, because in strong western winds you feel the waves at lake Müritz instantly when leaving the Bolter Kanal. You can change the route via the narrow lakes, which are quite sheltered from the wind.

Also you need to have a good stamina: 36 km on stagnant water are exhausting.

A typical comment: "The channel before Mirow seems to be endless and the sluice seems never to appear." And after the sluice come another 4 km until you arrive at Kanustation...

After such a tour upper is well earned and beer tastes exceptionally well!

It's unheard-of having problems falling asleep...
