What do I need for a canoe tour?
Preparation and equipment for canoeing starting at Kanustation Mirow
Personal equipment you should bring along
For day tours:
- changing clothes (waterproof packed)
- rain coat/ rain pants (at least windproof to avoid hypothermia)
- mosquito repellent
- sunglasses
- headdress
- sun lotion
- towel
additionally for tour lasting several days:
- sleeping bag (waterproof packed)
- tent, sleeping pad / air mattress
- stove / cooking equipment + fuel
- plate / mug / cutlery
- dish towel, dishwashing liquid
- more plastic bags or garbage bags for waterproof packing
- torch light
- lighter
- washbag
- possibly rubber boots
Hints:
Special packbags (you can buy them in stores) are especially suited for additional waterproof packing of your clothes (besides our luggage barrels and dry bags). Rucksacks are not suited. You can store them at the Kanustation while canoeing.
If you just plan one short tour, garbage bags will do.
Choose more and smaller packbags. It makes the packing of the boat (esp. kayaks) much easier.
Our boats have the following equipment:
- per rerson: paddles, life-jacket, dry bag
- per canadier: one luggage barrel
- additionally our tourer kayaks are equipped with a spray hood
